November Tips

  1. Empty all of your outdoor containers to keep them from cracking during the winter. Store them upside down.
  2. Put away your garden hose after removing all the water.
  3. Don't leave leaves on your lawn. Use the leaves for a compost pile or rake them into small piles and run the mower over them to turn them into mulch for perennial and bulb beds.
  4. Cover your compost pile with the plastic or thick later of straw before snowfall.
  5. Drain the fuel tank in your lawnmower or any other power equipment to avoid stale gas and gummed up carburetor.
  6. Mow your lawn as late as your grass continues to grow. Grass left too long over the winter can develop brown patches and moldy fungus in the spring.
